Jay Lee, President and Chief Executive Officer of By Design International Ltd. is the focus of the New York Business section of one the area’s largest Korean-American newspapers, the Joong Ang Daily. Lee’s in-depth interview with the paper delves into the history of By Design, from its roots as a budding company in 1994 to the $200 million operation it is today.

Lee tells the paper that constant reevaluation is the key to success in the marketplace. “When By Design was just three years old, sales hit over $100 million and I thought to myself, ‘At this rate, we’re going to be in trouble if we don’t have the infrastructure to support a bigger operation.’ So, we began restructuring everything from our decision making processes to our staff by bringing in top talent in the industry. This new structure helped us stay in business after the September 11th attacks. We even introduced a new division in a time when many of our competitors were still struggling after the economic slowdown following the terrorist attacks.”
