Congress Passes $10 Million Authorization for Mill River

The US Senate and House of Representatives overrode President Bush’s veto and passed the Water Resources Development Act of 2007 (WRDA) into law. This first override of one of the president’s vetoes contains an authorization of $10 million for Stamford’s Mill River. While not quite money, an authorization makes it easier to get money appropriated in a future federal budget. This authorization will support the restoration of Mill River, removal of a sunken barge in the harbor and other improvements to habitat, recreation, navigation and flood mitigation.
