Bayonne,
NJ – February 28, 2003 – Women in Bayonne now
have a new shop in which to discover their new beautiful selves.
The Alter Hair Salon, located at 6
East 22nd Street in Bayonne, celebrates its Grand
Opening with a Ribbon-Cutting on Wednesday,
March 5th at 2:30 p.m.
Corine Ferriero, a Bayonne High School graduate, has been
in business three weeks, but has been a hairdresser for eight
years. Ms. Ferriero studied hair cutting and styling at the
Learning Institute of Beauty Science in New Jersey, specializing
in hair coloring.
“I’ve always wanted to be a hairdresser,”
said Ms. Ferriero.
But that wasn’t always the case. As with many young
women today, Corine Ferriero first entered college. This 29-year-old
studied education for three years, yet found it was “hard
to go through something when your heart isn’t in it.”
With a “very supportive” husband, Philip, and
her dream in tow, nurtured by taking many advanced classes
in New Jersey for hair cutting, Corine followed her heart
and opened her own hair salon. She had managed salons in the
past, which gave her the necessary wherewithal for managing
her own. Essentially, Corine just had the “will to do
it.”
Though the Alter Hair Salon is only open a scant three weeks,
Corine already has developed a following. Best of all, she
also already imagines expanding to provide “all your
pampering in one spot.”

DEVELOPING
AN “ALTER” EGO – Corine Ferriero named
her new Bayonne-based place for unisex hair cuts, the
Alter Hair Salon, from the Freudian term, believing that
both men and women come to view themselves differently
when coming in for a new hair style. Pictured at the Alter
Hair Salon’s Grand Opening at 6 East 22nd Street
