Town Center Crowns "Queen for a Day".
BAYONNE,
NJ – May 18, 2004 - Bayonne Town Center’s official
Mother’s Day “Queen for a Day,” Berkis Beddoe,
was crowned by Mayor Joseph V. Doria, Jr., at a ceremony on
Saturday, May 15th, 2004, held at Community Crossing (488
Broadway). A resident of Bayonne for over 17 years, Ms. Beddoe’s
treasure basket (assembled by the artists at Candle Cottage)
was filled with everything from gift certificates for pampering
at local spas, jewelry, bed and bath products, home décor
items, and dinners at participating Town Center restaurants,
all graciously donated by the merchants of the Bayonne Town
Center, as well as certificates from both Pamrapo Savings
Bank, Bayonne Community Bank, and Valley National Bank. Rennar
Boutique provided a regal cape for her majesty, a floral crown
was created by Sacalis Florist, and the wicker throne was
courtesy of You’re Invited. In addition to Mayor Doria,
Ms. Beddoe and her family, joining the festivities were Clementine
Bogart, last year’s Queen Mother; Diane Brennan, Chairperson
of the Bayonne Town Center; BTC Board members Mary Divock
of Klothes Kloset, who ran the promotion; and Patricia Murphy,
of GLM Insurance.

The Bayonne Town Center Management Corporation, which
sponsors the ribbon-cutting, is a non-profit organization,
