TWO
THUMBS UP FOR HOLLYWOOD ON THE HUDSON
BAYONNE,
NJ – September 18, 2004 - On Saturday September 18th,
The Bayonne UEZ and The Bayonne Town Center hosted a day of
film, fun and family activities. Mother Nature did her best
to put a damper on the days’ events but her effort was
to no avail.
Mayor
Joseph V. Doria Jr. officially kicked off the event welcoming
the public to enjoy the day long festivities.
Children
enjoyed bouncing in the Moon Walk and having their pictures
taken with Buzz Lightyear, Spongebob and Austin Powers. Face
painting and balloon sculptures were among the most popular
events with the younger crowd.
Bayonne’s
own, Emmy Award winning actress, Tammy Blanchard was present
signing autographs for her many fans.
Children
of all ages delighted in viewing the film Willie Wonka &
The Chocolate Factory on the big screen. At the movies completion
a raffle to win the DVD version of the movie was held.
Entertainment
included shows by some of the very best celebrity impersonators.
“Bette Midler” with her quick wit and breathtaking
singing wowed the audience. “Elvis” had them up
dancing and swooning in the aisles.
“Austin Powers” was groovy and kept the party
atmosphere alive due to his antics.
Free pretzels, popcorn, cotton candy, chocolate bars, and
balloons were distributed through out the day.
This
free day of fun was made possible due to the efforts of The
Bayonne UEZ, The Bayonne Town Center and The City of Bayonne.
Very
special thanks to The Polish American Home, City of Bayonne
Public Works Department, the Bayonne Police Department and
the many unnamed volunteers who worked so diligently to ensure
the days success.
